Job Profile Summary

Support the Claims Manager in efficiently managing the claims portfolio to ensure fair treatment of customers. Assist in the day-to-day management of the Ipswich Claims Team, ensuring compliance with Group claims practices and controls. Manage a personal portfolio of claims from initial advice to settlement, including instructing surveyors, adjusters, and lawyers when appropriate, ensuring accurate record-keeping. Assist with staff training and development.

Job Description

  1. Support and assist in driving Marine Specialty Divisional strategies and efficiencies.
  2. Assist with divisional reporting as required.
  3. Develop a thorough understanding of the insurance market and claims process, including policy features, benefits, exclusions, and warranties.
  4. Understand and help manage the claims handling process, including filing and diary system administration.
  5. Handle marine cargo and liability claims in accordance with policy terms, from advice to settlement, within authority limits.
  6. Maintain accurate records and data to facilitate investigation and settlement, including reserving in line with insurer policies.
  7. Be aware of potential fraud and escalate suspicious circumstances appropriately.
  8. Recognize different claim circumstances and apply relevant rules, regulations, and laws.
  9. Liaise with other departments, including underwriters and accounts, for settlement queries.
  10. Correspond with related parties involved in claims.
  11. Attend client meetings as necessary.
  12. Appoint and liaise with surveyors, lawyers, loss adjusters, and other professionals to ensure accurate reserves and optimal outcomes.
  13. Participate in training sessions and meetings as required.

Regulatory Responsibilities

Provide guidance to Customers and Brokers on claim processes, ensuring compliance with policies and promoting good customer outcomes and fair treatment. Promptly identify, record, and escalate complaints; ensure fair treatment by all service providers.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of marine cargo and GIT liability claims handling.
  • Familiarity with Delegated Authorities and Third Party Adjusters (TPA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AI platforms.

Education

  • ACII qualification.
