Job summary

Balfour Beatty is recruiting a Section Engineer to support the Lower Thames Crossing project. You will work with the Design Engineering team to progress schemes, supervise site engineers and apprentices, and ensure compliance with LTC specifications and safety standards.

The role requires an engineering qualification and proven leadership on large infrastructure schemes, with a drive to deliver on time and within budget. Hybrid working and a competitive package are offered.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Construction Management qualification is required.
• Proven experience in a similar role on large infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
• Knowledge of construction regulations and best practices is expected.

Responsibilities

• Health, Safety & Wellbeing: follow LTC safety programmes and record weekly tours.
• Produce lookahead programmes aligned with the project stage and report variances.
• Review and coordinate design drawings with engineers before scheduling works.
• Obtain and refine Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) to LTC specs.
• Engage with Community and Communications teams on stakeholder requirements.
• Monitor environmental compliance and report breaches to Package Manager.
• Delegate requisition responsibilities to Site Engineer or Logistics teams and manage materials to plan.
• Lead and coach Site Engineers and Apprentices.
