Reeson Education is inviting Early Years Teaching Assistants and Early Years Practitioners to register for flexible work across Lewisham. Opportunities may include Nursery and Reception settings, with short-term cover and longer assignments considered as schools' needs arise.

Early Years Teaching Assistant / Practitioner | Lewisham | Full-time or part-time opportunities | £14.60-£18 per hour

Early years staff play an important part in helping young children feel safe, curious and ready to learn. Depending on the setting, the work may involve supporting child-led play, helping practitioners deliver planned activities, and encouraging communication, independence and positive relationships. Some assignments may include additional support for children with speech, language and communication needs or other SEND.

The role

• Set up inviting, age-appropriate activities and help maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support children's early language, social development and emerging literacy and numeracy through play.
• Observe how children engage and share useful information with the teacher or room leader.
• Help with routines, transitions, snack time and personal care in line with the setting's procedures.
• Work closely with colleagues and follow safeguarding, health and safety and behaviour guidance.

The ideal candidate

• Has experience working with children in a nursery, Reception class or similar setting.
• Is warm, reliable and responsive to each child's stage of development.
• Communicates well with children, families and colleagues.
• Has an Early Years qualification at Level 2 or above where required for a particular assignment; candidates with relevant experience are also encouraged to register.
• Can share their preferred days and availability.
