Adaptable and Flexible: No two days in a primary school are the same. Our Teaching Assistants need to be adaptable and ready to switch between different tasks and priorities, whether it's supporting a small group, working one-on-one with a pupil, or assisting with classroom administration.
Able to work as part of a team: Our Teaching Assistants are an integral part of the school team. They must be able to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff. A proactive attitude is highly valued-taking the initiative to anticipate needs, offer assistance, and find ways to improve the learning experience without constant direction.
Have a high level of literacy and Numeracy Skills: While not required to have the same specialist subject knowledge as a teacher, a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy is essential for helping pupils with core curriculum activities like reading and math.
Able to implement our Behaviour Management strategies: Our Teaching Assistants understand how behaviour is linked to learning and emotional well-being.
Have a good Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN): With inclusive education being standard practice, you will need to have an awareness of diverse learning needs. Experience or training in this area is a significant advantage.
Have a Passion for Working with Children: A genuine enthusiasm for helping children succeed is the most fundamental quality. Our teaching Assistants play a critical role in fostering a positive learning environment.
