Adaptable and Flexible: No two days in a primary school are the same. Our Teaching Assistants need to be adaptable and ready to switch between different tasks and priorities, whether it's supporting a small group, working one on one with a pupil, or assisting with classroom administration.
Able to work as part of a team: Our Teaching Assistants are an integral part of the school team. They must be able to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff. A proactive attitude is highly valued—taking the initiative to anticipate needs, offer assistance, and find ways to improve the learning experience without constant direction.
Have a high level of literacy and Numeracy Skills: While not required to have the same specialist subject knowledge as a teacher, a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy is essential for helping pupils with core curriculum activities like reading and math.
Able to implement our Behaviour Management strategies: Our Teaching Assistants understand how behaviour is linked to learning and emotional well‑being.
Have a good Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN): With inclusive education being standard practice, you will need to have an awareness of diverse learning needs. Experience or training in this area is a significant advantage.
Have a Passion for Working with Children: A genuine enthusiasm for helping children succeed is the most fundamental quality. Our teaching Assistants play a critical role in fostering a positive learning environment.
At Edlington Victoria Academy, our aim is to foster a love of learning and develop enquiring minds to enable all our children to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
We strive to ensure that our children value themselves as unique individuals, celebrating diversity and respecting differences. We work together as a community to enable all our children to grow to be responsible citizens and successful learners with high aspirations who know how to make a positive contribution to their community and the wider society.
Our Values permeate through everything we do and we expect our pupils to be ambitious to achieve their very best through being positive, self-motivated, engaged in their learning and independent in their decisions. There is a high focus on developing children’s moral, spiritual, social and cultural understanding.
Education is a partnership between home and school and we place a great deal of emphasis on our partnership with parents and the community. We believe that children learn best when home and school work together.
At Exceed Learning Partnership, we have a strong culture of school improvement, and professional development is at the heart of the Trust and all its academies. Our leaders have a wealth of knowledge and are highly experienced in improving outcomes for pupils.
As a Trust, we are passionate about meeting the needs of all our learners, ensuring their happiness and making the most of their individual talents. The focus on developing a lifelong love of learning is underpinned by rigorous attention to the development of essential skills and tools. We are committed to providing the very best educational opportunities for the pupils of Edlington Victoria Academy and this is an exciting opportunity for you to join this team and ‘make a difference.’
