Job summary

Early Years Alliance in England is seeking freelance assessors to deliver our high-quality early years training, including Apprenticeships, standalone qualifications and professional development programmes.

You will deliver virtual classroom sessions, assess learner work, provide constructive feedback, and travel to complete workplace assessments as part of the endpoint assessment process for apprentices.

Qualifications

  • Hold an accepted vocational assessor qualification, e.g. A1 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
  • Be confident supporting learners to develop their English and maths skills.
  • Have own transport and be willing to travel.
  • Be confident in the use of ICT to promote and support teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Be confident using Teams and Microsoft.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in the subject/vocational area and awareness of employer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver virtual classroom sessions and assess learner work with constructive feedback.
  • Travel to complete workplace assessments and 12-week reviews with learner/employer and support endpoint assessment for apprentices.
  • Plan and teach effective learning for diverse groups or individuals in various settings.
  • Assess with fairness and provide timely feedback on progress and outcomes.
  • Maintain own CPD annually and attend update/CPD meetings as needed.

About The Role

Early Years Assessors - Cambridge, Suffolk, Norfolk

The Early Years Alliance is the largest early years membership organisation and voluntary sector provider of quality affordable childcare and education in England. An educational charity, the Alliance represents the interests of over 14,000 member settings who deliver care and learning to over 800,000 families every year.

The Alliance provides early years qualifications and apprenticeships across England and we are looking for freelance assessors to support us to deliver our training programmes.

We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate assessors to deliver our high-quality early years training, including Apprenticeships, standalone qualifications and professional development programmes.

We are looking for experienced assessors with up-to-date knowledge of the National Occupational Standards in Child Care and the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, who are keen to ensure our teaching programme remains of the highest quality and continues to produce excellent early years educators.

Main duties

Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering virtual classroom sessions, assessing learner work and providing constructive feedback. Travelling to complete workplace assessments, 12-week reviews with learner/employer and supporting the endpoint assessment process for apprentices will also form part of this role. Other duties include:

  • To deliver training that inspires and motivates learners to achieve their personal and career objectives and qualifications.
  • To plan and teach effective learning for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment, including in virtual classrooms, face-to-face and in workplaces.
  • To assess with fairness and integrity, ensuring that learners receive constructive and timely feedback so that they know and understand what they have achieved and what they must do to further improve.
  • Maintaining own occupational CPD annually.
  • Attending update meetings / standardisation / CPD as needed.
Essential criteria

  • Be able to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in the subject/vocational area, and aware of the needs and concerns of employers reasonable distances to undertake workplace assessment and monitoring visits.
  • Be flexible and able to work as part of a team.

Hours per week: As and when required

Location: Homebased
