Job summary

Aberdeenshire Council is seeking an Early Years Practitioner to join the Early Learning and Childcare team. The role involves active participation in the Early Level curriculum (CfE) and Realising the Ambition, with responsibilities for the care and education of children in the nursery.

The successful candidate will be based at Newtonhill School Nursery, with potential duties at other Portlethen CSN sites. A PVG check, SSSC registration within 3 months, and two references are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold SCQF Level 7 qualification such as HNC in Childhood Practice, SVQ in Social Services (Children & Young People), or SVQ Children's Care Learning and Development.
• Must join PVG Scheme or have PVG Scheme update; Overseas Criminal Record Check if applicable.
• References: minimum of 2, one from current or most recent employer.
• Must obtain SSSC registration within 3 months of employment.

• Assist in caring for and educating children in the nursery setting.

A vacancy has arisen for an Early Years Practitioner to become part of the Early Learning and Childcare team, with full involvement in the work of the Early Level curriculum (Curriculum for Excellence) and Realising the Ambition in addition to helping to contribute to the care and education of children.

The postholder must hold a relevant SCQF Level 7 qualification such as HNC in Childhood Practice, SVQ in Social Services (Children & Young people), SVQ Children's Care Learning and Development.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality and service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service of the organisation.

This is a Children's Service Network (CSN) post. Initially you will be based at Newtonhill School Nursery, but you may be required to work elsewhere within the PortlethenCSN.

Successful candidate will be employed on a 45.04 week per year contract.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
