Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle Branch is seeking a Nursery Practitioner to support nurseries in Durham. The role focuses on nurturing environments that help children learn through play, meeting social, emotional, physical, and educational needs.

The practitioner will facilitate age-appropriate activities, support communication, and work with families and staff to provide consistent care. DBS enhanced checks are required or willingness to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in early years or childcare within a school or similar setting.
• Understanding of the EYFS framework and safeguarding principles.
• Ability to respond to children's developmental and emotional needs.

Responsibilities

• Organise age-appropriate play, creative and sensory activities.
• Encourage early communication, language and social development.
• Observe progress and contribute to developmental records.
• Create opportunities for exploration and independence.
• Maintain a welcoming environment that supports wellbeing and safety.
• Liaise with colleagues and families to provide consistent care and learning support.
