Job Purpose
To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling,stimulating environment in which children can play and learn and meets therequirements of the Early Years Framework
Works directly with children under supervision and moreindependently supporting their learning and development through play andplanned activities. more responsibility, including acting as a key person,leading activities, and contributing to planning and assessment. They workmore independently and may supervise or train Level 2 staff
Main duties andresponsibilities
Supporting the pupil:
- Support children including those with SEN toengage in play and learning activities
- Build strong relationships with parents inorder to meet the needs of all children and provide a high standard ofphysical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children in thesetting.
- Enable children to make the transition fromdependence to independence.
- Enablechildren to make choices, develop their own ideas and take responsibility fortheir own actions.
- Assistwith observations and assessments of childrens’ development and contribute toany discussions about each child’s progress.
- Providepersonal care (e.g., feeding, toileting, hygiene) in line with childrens’needs and the schools policies
- Maintain asafe, stimulating indoor and outdoor environment.
- Workcollaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals asrequired
LEVEL 3 additions
- Be a keyworker for a group of children, recording and observations, keeping up todate profiles of the children’s development and progress working inpartnership with parents, schools, and other team members.
Support for the Curriculum
- Participatein planning and delivering appropriate play and learning activities alignedwith EFFS framework, adjusting activities according to pupil responses
- Prepare,maintain and use equipment/resources to provide a safe, stimulating indoorand outdoor environment and required to meet activity learning objectives

Supporting the School:
- Be awareof and comply with school policies and procedures including relating to childprotection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection,reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Be awareof and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access toopportunities to learn and develop and prevent discrimination on the groundsof race, religion, gender, disability, sexuality and status.
- Contributeto the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- Appreciateand support the role of other professionals
- Attend andparticipate in relevant meetings as required
- Participatein training and other learning activities and performance development asrequired

- Provideappropriate guidance and supervision of other EYPs and assist in theirtraining and development appropriate
Supporting the SEN:
- To helpand support the SENco in delivering a suitable programme of activities forthe child’s individual development, both indoors and out.
- To assistin making resources to support activities that have been advised by theSENco/outside agencies
- To providefeedback about the child’s progress to the SENco, parents and outsideagencies
- To reportany problems about arrangements or incidents to the SENco or Supervisor
