Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Group Newport Nursery in Newport, Isle of Wight, is seeking an Early Years Practitioner to support children through play-based learning. You’ll help children feel safe, valued and ready to explore, with duties including building relationships, observing development and creating engaging activities.

The role offers a 40-hour week across four days, with allowances for part-time or job-share options and NHS discount considerations. Training and progression paths are available.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification, or is working towards one.
• Experience or transferable skills in childcare, education, SEND, youth work, healthcare, coaching, community services or care is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Build warm and secure relationships with children.
• Help every child feel that they belong.
• Support children's confidence, independence and emotional development.
• Create engaging opportunities to learn through play.
• Observe children's development and use insights to plan next steps.
• Provide exciting indoor and outdoor experiences and safeguarding.
