Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Group Newport Nursery is seeking an Early Years Practitioner to support children’s learning through play in a nursery based at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport. You’ll help children grow in confidence and independence, and work across indoor/outdoor environments to deliver engaging activities.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, inclusive play-based learning, and close collaboration with families and staff. NHS staff receive a 2% discount on nursery fees.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient, dependable and enthusiastic about helping children thrive.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues.
• Commitment to inclusive, play-based learning and outdoor experiences.
• Understand safeguarding and safe Early Years practice.
• Willingness to follow the EYFS framework and complete observations/records.
• Ability to support children with different needs, experiences and starting points.
• Willing to undertake safer-recruitment checks including Enhanced DBS.
