Job summary

Flourish Education is seeking a dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join a Cheltenham Pre-school on a long-term basis. You will support daily learning, implement EYFS activities, and collaborate with a friendly team to nurture every child’s development.

The role emphasizes calm, patient, and nurturing care, building strong relationships with children and families while safeguarding welfare and promoting inclusive learning for all pupils.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Early Years/Nursery/Pre-school settings is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Responsibilities

  • Support children within the Pre-school setting throughout the school day.
  • Deliver engaging and age-appropriate learning activities with the Pre-school team.
  • Support children’s learning and development in line with EYFS.
  • Help children develop communication, language, physical, social and emotional skills.
  • Support children through play-based learning and encourage exploration.
  • Work with individual children and small groups to support development.
  • Build positive, trusting, nurturing relationships with children.
  • Encourage confidence, independence and curiosity.
  • Support early literacy and numeracy development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social skills.
  • Provide reassurance, encouragement and emotional support.
  • Support children during transitions, snack times, outdoor learning and other activities.
  • Create and maintain a safe, stimulating, inclusive learning environment.
  • Observe development and contribute to records and assessments.
  • Collaborate with Pre-school team, teachers and wider school staff.
  • Follow safeguarding policies and EYFS guidance.

Job description

A supportive Primary School in Cheltenham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join their Pre-school team on a long-term basis.

This full-time position will begin as soon as possible and will continue on a long-term basis, offering an excellent opportunity to become a valued member of the school team and make a positive impact on young children's learning, development, and wellbeing.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and supportive staff team committed to providing a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive. The successful Early Years Practitioner will work closely with the Pre-school team to support children throughout the school day, helping them to develop their confidence, independence, communication, and social skills.

The role will involve supporting children with their learning and development through a range of engaging, age-appropriate activities. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced staff to create a positive and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore and learn. Previous experience working within an Early Years or Pre-school setting is highly desirable.

As an Early Years Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting children within the Pre-school setting throughout the school day
  • Working closely with the Pre-school team to support the delivery of engaging and age-appropriate learning activities
  • Supporting children's learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Helping children to develop their communication, language, physical, social, and emotional skills
  • Supporting children through play-based learning and encouraging them to explore their environment
  • Working with individual children and small groups to support their learning and development
  • Building positive, trusting, and nurturing relationships with children

  • Following school policies, safeguarding procedures, and EYFS guidance at all times
To be successful in this Early Years Practitioner role, you will need:
  • Previous experience working with children within an Early Years, Nursery, or Pre-school setting is highly desirable
  • A relevant Early Years, Childcare, or Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
  • A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with young children and understand their individual needs
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • The ability to support children's learning and development through play and engaging activities
  • A proactive, adaptable, and child-centred approach
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting them to achieve their full potential

Working as an Early Years Practitioner for Flourish Education also offers you excellent benefits, including:
