We are recruiting for an Early Years Practitioner to work in a Primary School based in Cheltenham. This Early Years Practitioner role will involve working within the school's pre-school, supporting young children with their early development and helping to create a positive, engaging, and nurturing learning environment. The role will involve supporting children's learning and development through play-based activities, assisting with daily routines, and helping to deliver engaging early years experiences. Two children within the setting have low-level Special Educational Needs (SEN), so the school is looking for a caring, patient, and proactive Early Years Practitioner who can provide additional support where needed, encourage independence, and help all children feel safe, included, and supported. This role is full-time, starting after the October half-term and continuing until February initially, with the potential to extend. The successful candidate will hold a relevant Early Years qualification and have previous experience working within an early years or primary school setting, supporting children's development and working collaboratively with other staff to help children reach their full potential.

- Supporting the delivery of engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote children's learning and development.
- Helping children develop their communication, language, social, emotional, and physical skills.
- Supporting children's learning through play-based activities and practical experiences.
- Providing additional support and encouragement to children with low-level SEN needs, helping them access activities and participate in the setting.
- Adapting activities and resources to meet children's individual learning and developmental needs.
- Encouraging children's independence, confidence, and positive interactions with their peers.
- Developing positive relationships with children and creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
- Supporting daily routines, including snack times, personal care, and transitions between activities.
- Observing children's progress and sharing relevant information with the class teacher and other members of staff.
- Supporting positive behaviour and encouraging children to develop their social skills and emotional regulation.
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher and other early years staff to support children's progress.
- Maintaining a strong focus on safeguarding, health and safety, and children's wellbeing throughout the school day.
To be successful in this Early Years Practitioner role, you will need:
- A relevant Early Years qualification.
- Previous experience working within an early years, nursery, or primary school setting.
- Experience supporting children's learning and development through play-based activities.
- An understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs, or a willingness to provide tailored support where required.
- A patient, nurturing, and positive approach to working with young children.
- The ability to adapt activities and resources to meet children's individual needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents or carers.
