Job summary

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking an Early Years Worker to support children aged 0–5 and families, promoting child development and school readiness. You will work across Family Hubs, community venues and family homes, delivering play-based activities in line with EYFS.

The role requires a Level 3 Early Years and Childcare qualification, experience with young children and families, and strong communication and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Early Years and Childcare or equivalent.
• Experience working with young children and families, including vulnerable groups.
• Knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding procedures.
• Experience planning activities and supporting children's learning and development.
• Strong communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
• Flexibility to travel across the borough and occasionally work outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, play-based activities aligned with EYFS.
• Provide one-to-one and group support to children and families, including vulnerable groups.
• Support parents and carers to develop positive home learning environments.
• Promote speech, language and communication skills and identify needs.
• Complete assessments and maintain accurate records using council systems.
• Work with health visitors, social workers and other professionals to coordinate support.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and promote equality and welfare.
• Work across Family Hubs, community venues and family homes as required.
