Job summary

Merton Council is seeking an experienced caretaker to cover a group of buildings in Merton. You will help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for children, families and staff by supervising security, alarms and general maintenance.

The role involves early, late and split shifts with occasional Saturday work and enhanced pay for overtime. A commitment to health and safety and good communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in caretaking / facilities role on public premises.
• Health & Safety or First Aid qualifications are desirable.
• Experience as a tradesperson or in a maintenance role is preferred but not essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out security procedures: opening/locking buildings, checking alarms and exits.
• Respond to H&S issues and perform general repairs during operating hours.
• Some grounds maintenance duties such as weeding and litter collection.
