Job summary

Bright Horizons Winchester Day Nursery is seeking an Early Years Chef to prepare, cook and present meals for children in our welcoming nursery in Winchester. You will ensure nutritious, age-appropriate menus, cater for dietary requirements, and help promote healthy eating among the children.

You will bring prior cooking experience, a Food Safety certificate, and strong communication with colleagues, parents and carers.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for groups in nursery or similar settings.
• Ability to cater for dietary requirements and allergies.
• Passion for nutrition and healthy eating.
• Food safety certification to be held on day 1.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present meals for children with minimal waste.
• Lead cookery club sessions and support nursery activities.
• Ensure dietary requirements are clearly communicated to teams and parents.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

You will ensure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to teams, and work in partnership with the team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet. You will also have an active role in leading cookery club sessions with the children, and support with other nursery activities, such as BBQs, Fetes, and staff meetings.What we’re looking forPrevious experience within a cooking role, in a domestic or commercial propertyPassion for nutrition, and inspiring others in healthy eatingAbility to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergiesFood Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in postSound knowledge of COSHHGreat communication skills, with colleagues, children, and parentsAbility to work under pressureBright Horizons is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
