Job summary

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust invites applications for a Nursery Assistant on a maternity cover basis at First Steps Nursery, Conquest Hospital. The role requires a minimum NVQ Level 2 in Childcare & Education (or equivalent) and experience with under-5s.

Flexibility in hours and a commitment to Early Years Foundation Stage are essential, with shifts planned four weeks in advance. The role offers opportunities for further training, progression to Level 3, and participation in NHS staff

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in Childcare & Education or equivalent.
• Experience with children under 5 years.
• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate play and education activities.
• Maintain child-to-staff ratios and follow Ofsted and Trust procedures.
• Support adult and child interaction with positive language and play-based learning.
• Assist in preparing and arranging rooms and resources for activities.
