Job summary

Best Practice Network is seeking a dedicated Southwest Early Years Apprenticeship Tutor to plan and support the programme from interview through to completion. You will train and assess trainees aiming for EYTS, delivering high-quality curriculum mastery and portfolio-based assessment, including visits, observations, and record-keeping.

The role requires driving to placements, strong IT skills, and experience in FE or similar environments.

Qualifications

• Hold a qualification or have experience in the subject area
• Have up-to-date industry knowledge
• Hold Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy qualifications
• Have experience of working with employers in a training or customer relations role
• Able to develop strong professional relationships with employers and learners
• Have strong IT skills and be willing to work with e-portfolios
• Can motivate learners and ensure they complete on time
• Hold a full driving licence and own vehicle and be willing to travel to customer sites
• Have high levels of motivation and the ability to use own initiative
• Hold an assessor qualification
• Hold an IV/IQA qualification
• Experience of working in Further Education or a similar environment
• Early Years Advanced Practitioner or Management experience

Responsibilities

• Complete termly skills reviews with trainees and identify gaps against EYITT curriculum themes
• Complete visits with observations in workplace and placement settings, liaising with mentors and lead trainers
• Maintain records relevant to individual trainees
• Support the delivery of curriculum mastery to meet the Teacher Standards (Early Years)
• Assess and provide feedback to learners using Mosaic portfolio system
• Monitor trainees progress and provide support in completion of evidence
• Detailing, monitoring, recording and reporting of ALS
• Provide information to employees and employers to support ITT programmes
• Facilitate reviews and appraisals with Line Manager
• Provide data regarding the programme and trainees for self-evaluation
• Review teaching files and learning sequences on visits and provide feedback
• Provide mental health and wellbeing support to trainees
• Arrange and attend placements and offer school/setting suggestions
• Complete administration for signing up and recording trainees
• Maintain documentation on trainee progress against targets
• Complete documentation for visits to employers and reviews
• Ensure timely completion of all trainees on programme and complete required documentation
• Recommend EYTS awards and grading in June
• Present EYITT briefings to boost recruitment
• Support equality, diversity and safeguarding efforts
• Support Ofsted preparation and visits
• Interview potential candidates and complete paperwork to deadlines
• Promote EYITT recruitment in locality
• Promote safeguarding and Equal Opportunities programs
