EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM DIRECTOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

As a member of the agency's senior leadership team, the Early Childhood Program Director oversees all administrative and programmatic functions of Preschool and Early Education Centers located in multiple communities on the South Shore of Massachusetts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Programmatic

  1. Oversee curriculum design and implementation.
  2. Manage a team of Directors and associated staff.
  3. Design and implement training and professional development for Center Directors and Support Staff.
  4. Develop and monitor program policies and procedures.
  5. Develop staffing patterns appropriate to program needs.
  6. Oversee child assessment and the use of assessment data.
  7. Lead annual program evaluations and develop action plans for improvement.
  8. Lead the NAEYC accreditation process.
  9. Assist Center Directors in designing classroom environments.
  10. Observe children, consult with staff, and participate in team meetings.
  11. Collaborate with staff on children with emotional or behavioral health needs.
  12. Ensure developmental needs of children are met and foster parent/guardian partnerships.
  13. Lead parent/guardian education and involvement initiatives.
  14. Respond to parent concerns and coordinate services with local schools.
  15. Oversee transportation and routes.
  16. Facilitate professional development trainings.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Administrative

  1. Ensure adherence to the agency's mission and values.
  2. Maintain compliance with licensing, accreditation, and standards.
  3. Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  4. Collaborate on program expansion and improvement.
  5. Communicate policies and issues with staff.
  6. Participate in contracting, fundraising, negotiations, and advocacy.
  7. Contribute to grant applications and develop staff pipelines.
  8. Participate in leadership meetings, training, and planning.
  9. Assist in budget development and monitor expenditures.
  10. Oversee equipment, data-driven decision making, and curriculum implementation.
  11. Coordinate transportation, food programs, and audits.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in early childhood education or related field.
  • At least five years of teaching experience.
  • Minimum three years of program administration experience.
  • Experience managing teams of administrators/directors.
  • Strong supervision, facilitation, and communication skills.

MUST HAVE: EEC Director 2 certification, Preschool and Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher Certification. Must have transportation. Preference for nonprofit and at-risk experience. Availability for evenings, weekends, and non-business hours.

Reports to: CEO

*Competitive salary based on experience. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and work in a non-sedentary environment.
