ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Our client is currently seeking a motivated and creative Early Career Teacher of Design and Technology to join their thriving department at a mixed all-through academy in Ilford. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified teacher who is passionate about DT and ready to begin their career in a supportive and innovative school environment.
The successful candidate will benefit from a structured ECT induction programme, experienced mentorship, and access to state-of-the-art facilities that support a diverse DT curriculum including product design, resistant materials, and CAD/CAM technologies.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities as a DT teacher will include:
Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum for Design and Technology
Teaching across KS3 and KS4 (with potential to support KS5 depending on experience)
Encouraging creative thinking, problem-solving, and practical skills development in students
Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching approaches to suit individual needs
Maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment
Engaging with CPD opportunities and participating fully in the school’s ECT programme
Contributing to extra-curricular clubs and enrichment opportunities within DT and STEM
WHAT OUR CLIENT IS LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will:
Hold or be on track to achieve QTS by September 2025
Hold a relevant degree in Design and Technology or a closely related subject
Demonstrate strong subject knowledge across areas such as product design, materials technology, or engineering
Be passionate about DT and committed to fostering creativity and innovation in students
Possess excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Communicate clearly with students, colleagues, and parents
Be proactive, reflective, and committed to ongoing professional development
Be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of the school
