Special Transitional Care Support Worker/Nursery Nurse

An opportunity has arisen for a trained nursery nurse/nursing associate to join our neonatal team at St Helier Hospital. We are a Level 2 Neonatal Unit delivering all levels of care, including transitional care provided on our postnatal wards.

Main duties of the job
  1. Assist in delivering safe and effective care to babies requiring Neonatal Special Care (SC) on the Neonatal Unit and Transitional Care (NTC) on the postnatal ward.
  2. Communicate directly with Neonatal nursing and medical teams to plan care for babies in SC/NTC.
  3. Act autonomously to escalate concerns regarding babies' conditions to the Neonatal nurse in charge, working within local guidelines.
  4. Deliver health promotion and support to families to enable them to care for their premature or unwell infants.
  5. Instruct, advise, and deliver parentcraft classes to parents/carers, including bathing, resuscitation, and safe sleep guidance.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • GCSE C/4 in Math and English or Functional Skills Level 2 in Math and English
  • NNEB / Early Years Level 3 qualification or Nursing Associate qualification
  • FDSci Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • 2 A Levels or equivalent
  • Care Certificate completed
Experience and knowledge
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare setting in Maternity or Paediatrics
  • Knowledge of Baby Friendly Neonatal Standards and Accreditation
  • Knowledge of BLISS baby charter
