Job summary

Yu Group in Leicester is hiring an Early Arrears Advisor to manage overdue accounts from a commercial client base. The role is fully office-based with Monday–Friday hours, reporting to the Early Arrears Manager.

The position offers an opportunity to influence debt recovery strategies and to earn quarterly performance bonuses. You will negotiate payment plans, maintain professional relationships, and work with teams to accelerate resolutions.

Qualifications

• Strong negotiation skills with tact and diplomacy.
• Experience in credit control or collections is beneficial but not required.
• Understanding of debt collection processes and payment arrangements.
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Able to report on performance and outcomes clearly.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate with commercial customers to resolve overdue debts while preserving relationships.
• Develop sustainable payment arrangements based on customers' financial situations.
• Progress debt cases through recovery paths and escalate high-risk cases when needed.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams for a unified approach.

• Negotiating with customers: You'll work with commercial customers to resolve overdue debts while maintaining positive, professional relationships.
• Developing payment solutions: By understanding customers’ financial situations, you’ll help negotiate sustainable payment arrangements that suit their needs and circumstances.
• Managing the debt recovery process: Efficiently progressing debt cases through the treatment paths, accelerating higher-risk cases, and ensuring issues are resolved quickly to prevent further delays.
• Collaborating with teams: You'll work closely with both internal and external teams to maintain a unified, efficient approach.
• Providing performance updates: Prepare accurate management information to report on your individual performance and success.

• Previous Experience: While experience as a Credit Controller or Collections Advisor is beneficial, we're open to individuals with strong negotiation skills and customer service backgrounds.
• Energy Industry Knowledge: Experience in the energy industry is a bonus but not essential. What matters most is your ability to understand and resolve financial issues effectively.
