EAL Teaching Assistant

Academics Rochester are recruiting for a part time EAL Teaching Assistant to start working at a primary school in Gillingham, Kent. The role will start after the Easter break and will continue until July 2025, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent.

All applicants must hold a TEFL or TESOL qualification and have recent experience working with primary school children whose first language is not English.

When in the role, you will ensure that all young people whose first language is not English have access to the highest levels of support, enabling them to flourish across the curriculum. You will make a difference to those students who have additional needs and require support to overcome barriers to learning. You will be joining a committed team focused on improving outcomes for all pupils, and you will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

• Recent school experience or evidence of working with children
• TEFL or TESOL qualification
• Experience of helping EAL students
• GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 & above

To be eligible you must have/be:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate (If you do not have a DBS, Academics can assist you with the application process)
• Provide a minimum of two references covering the last 2 years.
