Job summary

Carshalton Boys Sports College is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to support our EAL learners, helping them develop English language skills and access the wider curriculum.

You will work 36 hours a week, during term-time (8am–4pm) on a one-year fixed-term contract with CPD opportunities funded by the school. Visits to the school are encouraged, with initial discussions encouraged with Emma Morris, Deputy Principal.

Responsibilities

• Support EAL learners to develop English language skills and access the curriculum
• Collaborate with/assist teaching staff to integrate language support across lessons
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment

This role is crucial in helping students enhance their English language skills, access the wider curriculum, and become confident, integrated members of our school community.

Our student body is increasingly diverse; 25% of our students now have English as an Additional Language, ranging from new to English to fluent learners, speaking over 70 foreign languages. The school actively supports CPD and if you are interested in progressing your career, we are happy to fund courses or training which support the school's needs.
