Job summary

Small Heath Leadership Academy in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to our pupils, helping learners succeed and contributing to an outstanding environment.

You will work as part of a committed team, applying organisational and technical skills to support learning, build relationships, and engage with internal and external agencies as required.

Qualifications

  • HLTA standards or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Recent school experience with pupils of relevant age.
  • Experience with students with additional educational needs (desirable).
  • Understanding issues relating to students with little/no English.
  • Knowledge of accessing internal/external agency support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils to promote learning.
  • Support and develop learning in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Build relationships across the school and Star community.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to our pupils. You will be committed to making a positive difference to young people's lives and in supporting and developing their learning. Your intervention will help enable an outstanding learning environment for our young people, providing the support they need to succeed.

The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills. You will have the ability to effectively support learning and teaching, and to develop relationships across our school and the Star community.

You will have:
  • Meet Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Recent experience of working in a school or other organisation with children of relevant age to promote learning.
  • Experience of working with students with additional educational needs, more able, special educational needs (desirable).
  • Understanding and knowledge of the issues relating to students who have little or no English.
  • Knowledge of how to access support from internal/ external agencies.

Small Heath Leadership Academyis a secondary school in Birmingham. We joined Star Academies in 2018 and, like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.

The school was rated 'good' in all four areas of the inspection framework during its inspection in May 2022.
