Job summary

Star Academies' Oulder Hill Leadership Academy in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a disadvantaged community. You will help enable an outstanding learning environment, supporting individuals and small groups to access learning and achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will be a committed team player with good organisational and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with students and adults, and to contribute to the school's

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent required.
• Experience of working with children in a school setting.
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults.
• Ability to work with pupils one-to-one, in small groups and with whole class.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils to aid learning and progression.
• Support learning and teaching activities across lessons.
• Develop positive relationships across the school and Star community.

About Oulder Hill Leadership Academy

Oulder Hill Leadership Academy is a secondary school for 11 to 16 year olds in Rochdale, which joined Star Academies in March 2022. We are a rapidly improving school with high ambitions and expectations for all our pupils, as evidenced by our most recent Ofsted inspection in January 2025, when we were graded ‘Good’ in all four areas of the inspection framework.

We’re looking for a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to our pupils. You will be committed to making a positive difference to young people’s lives and in supporting and developing their learning. Your intervention will help enable an outstanding learning environment for our young people, providing the support they need to succeed.

The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills. You will have the ability to effectively support learning and teaching, and to develop relationships across our school and the Star community.

You will have:

• A NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
• Experience of working with children in a school setting.
• The ability to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults.
• The ability to work with pupils on a one to one, small groups and whole class.
