Job Description

With over 50 years of experience in the rail industry, we have delivered complex multidisciplinary projects worldwide. Our expertise includes depots, operations, maintenance analytics, and asset management across all rail aspects, including transport, technical assessments, sustainability, and systems infrastructure.

We are seeking a Planning Engineer to join our Old Oak Common Station project team. You will play a key role in developing our delivery capabilities, integrating design, procurement, construction, and testing & commissioning for the Mechanical Electrical Public Health Fire and Communication (MEPHFC) contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop scope and work breakdown structures for different parts of the delivery programme, including capturing key assumptions.
  2. Collaborate with the Project Controls / Planning team to ensure programme, budget, and risk baselines are consistent and integrated.
  3. Support the Head of Planning in submitting timely Clause 32 programmes.
  4. Manage and control programme comments from the main Contractor and ensure timely resolution.
  5. Create and submit programme communications via CEMAR and follow up with the main Contractor to maintain an accepted programme throughout the project.
  6. Coordinate with the Design Team to manage and track design deliverables and assess their impact on procurement and construction.
  7. Work with the Quality & Assurance team to manage and track handover deliverables within the programme.
  8. Align technical and construction assurance processes with the programme, tracking and controlling deliverables.
  9. Implement Earned Value Analysis (EVA) by integrating cost and programme data.
  10. Coordinate with the commercial team to align on KPIs such as SPI and CPI, providing analysis when deviations occur.
  11. Conduct time impact assessments for changes as per clause 62 of the contract and change control procedures.
  12. Lead programme workshops to review time impact assessments and propose mitigation measures.
  13. Integrate the Tender Event Schedule with the programme, reflecting procurement relationships, tracking long-lead items, and assessing impacts on budget and installation.
  14. Update the programme with actual site progress in line with Site Shift Reports.

You must have the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of Primavera (P6) and MS Project.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Degree qualification, ideally.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (A-level).
  • Strong technical understanding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of client organizations.
