Job Description

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our friendly team at our Markham Vale site on a full-time, permanent basis.

Salary: £30,288 per annum

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

As a Transport Planner, you will oversee the day-to-day planning of the transport operation. You should be a highly motivated and driven individual, experienced in working within a busy transport department, capable of handling daily challenges, and providing cost-effective solutions to our customers.

Key Duties of a Transport Planner
  • Subcontracting and planning orders from multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
  • Planning daily workload for a fleet of vehicles based on and off-site.
  • Handling queries and issues via telephone, fax, and email from customers, subcontract hauliers, and warehousing sites.
  • Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to maintain high performance standards.
  • Maintaining, creating, and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
  • Reporting problems and resolving issues or queries that arise.
  • Supporting the fleet and driver training team as needed.
  • Completing pre- and post-debriefs for all driver shifts.
  • Delivering effective, professional, and timely communication internally and externally.
Qualifications
  • Proven expertise in transport planning within a busy and demanding environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to meet business requirements, especially during peak periods.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels within the business.
  • Ability to identify and suggest improvements for company and customer benefit.
  • Motivated individual capable of working independently and as part of a small team.
  • Knowledge of SAP, BPCS, and Road Runner is advantageous.
