Job Description

Overall purpose of the job:

As a Network Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in managing and maintaining our organization's network infrastructure. This role will involve troubleshooting network issues, implementing network changes, and facilitating change enablement processes to ensure seamless operations

Key responsibilities for this job:
  • Network Infrastructure Management: Assist in managing and maintaining customers' network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment.
  • Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network issues using a systematic approach, including analysing logs, conducting packet captures, and utilizing network monitoring tools, providing regular updates on outstanding issues as part of Problem Management
  • Change Enablement: Participate in change enablement processes by assessing proposed changes to the network infrastructure, completion of Change documentation, and ensuring compliance with change management policies and procedures.
  • Network Configuration and Optimisation: Configure and optimize network devices and protocols to ensure optimal performance, reliability and security, as part of Capacity Management.
  • Incident Response: Provide technical support to resolve escalated network incidents, collaborating with engineering and architecture colleagues and other stakeholders to minimize downtime and impact on business operations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, change management activities, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators, service and project managers, and IT support staff, to implement network-related projects and initiatives.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance and identify areas for improvement, implementing proactive measures to enhance network efficiency and reliability.
  • Cyber Security: Ensure compliance to all Cyber Security standards, managing and reviewing all security events, working with the Cyber team.
  • Any other fair and reasonable task or duty assigned to you by your manager, or other senior Exponential-e Ltd staff member
Knowledge and experience required:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network administration or support roles.
  • Experience with network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Dell Networks.
  • Familiarity with change management processes and best practices, with the ability to effectively participate in change enablement activities.
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of network devices including routers, switches, firewalls to maximise network efficiency and security.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, IPSec, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, and QoS.
  • Proficiency in network troubleshooting techniques and tools, such as Wireshark, SNMP monitoring, and packet analysis.
  • Updating network devices to latest firmware releases
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
