Job description

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and creative Year 1/2 Teacher to join a Key Stage 1 team for the full 2025–2026 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity to teach a mixed-age class and support pupils as they transition from the EYFS into the more structured world of Key Stage 1. The successful candidate will be committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that enables all pupils to thrive.

Duties as a Year 1/2 Teacher:
  1. Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the KS1 national curriculum
  2. Meet the diverse needs of a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class through effective differentiation
  3. Support pupils’ progress in phonics, early reading, writing, and maths
  4. Use assessment effectively to inform teaching and track pupil progress
  5. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity and independence
  6. Work collaboratively with KS1 colleagues and engage with parents and carers
Ideal Year 1/2 Candidate:
  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  2. Experience teaching in KS1; experience with mixed-age groups is an advantage
  3. Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and phonics instruction (e.g., Little Wandle, Read Write Inc.)
  4. Excellent classroom management and communication skills as a Year 1/2 Teacher
  5. A caring, reflective, and proactive approach to teaching
