Job Title: Structural Engineer

We are currently looking for a talented, experienced Structural Engineer.

We are looking for a candidate who is confident, has a good personality, and is a good communicator with our clients and within the team. The candidate must hold a valid UK driving licence and have a car.

We are a close, laid-back team at Exact Structures. You must be happy to work in an open space and be a team player. We will support you and help you progress, aiming to develop you into the best engineer possible.

Our ethos is based on clear communication with clients and delivering the best results for their projects. We have an established returning client base and are now seeking an enthusiastic Structural Engineer to join our team.

You will work alongside all team members, attend site visits, lead your own projects, and participate in company meetings. Exact Structures values learning opportunities, and you will be supported to achieve Chartered Membership Status with the IStructE.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis, and structural reports across all major materials.
2. Visit sites, respond to site queries, and oversee ongoing work.
3. Assist in providing quotations for both public and professional inquiries (experienced engineers).
4. Manage project finances.
5. Liaise with team members and project stakeholders, including architects, builders, and clients.
6. Lead projects, delegate tasks, and perform design checks (experienced engineers).
7. Perform technical drawings; experience with AutoCAD is desirable.
8. Use design software such as Tekla, TEDDS, Scale, and Masterseries.
9. Support and mentor graduate engineers.

The work we undertake is diverse, including:

• Extensions and alterations to existing structures.
• High-end residential new builds.
• Barn reports for planning applications and structural designs for conversions.
• Structural inspections and reports.
• Retaining wall and substructure design.
• Loft conversions.
• Steel and timber frame structures in residential and commercial sectors.
• Temporary works design.
