Location: Edinburgh, expectation of working in the office twice a week

Employment Type: Fixed-term for 12 months

What you’ll do

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to play a critical role in ensuring our financial integrity by monitoring, processing, and reporting on company financial transactions to ensure data accuracy.

In this role, you'll:

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of timesheets and process of monthly sales invoicing and credit notes.
  • Credit control - managing debt within the sales ledger, liaising with customers and maintaining creditor and debtor listings.
  • Complete financial activities such as purchase ledger processing, cash balance reporting, bank reconciliations, and employee expense processing.
  • Uphold revenue integrity, oversee invoicing and all revenue adjustments.
  • Perform month-end journal postings accurately and finalising month-end figures for review.
  • Handle HMRC reporting including VAT, PAYE, PSA and P11Ds.
  • Support the wider finance team by maintaining a fixed asset register and processing pre-payments and accruals.
  • Active management of the PO system, ensuring accuracy and automation where possible.
  • Execute monthly payroll processing.
  • Prepare finance reports, contributing to board reporting, and engage in finance department improvement projects.
  • Respond to queries from customers, suppliers and employees in relation to issues such as billing, revenue, payroll and expenses.
  • Support other ad hoc financial administration tasks.

What you’ll bring

  • Prior experience of working within a finance team.
  • Part qualified (ICAS, ACA, ACCA & CIMA or equivalent) and or qualified by experience.
  • Previous experience carrying out payroll preparation.
  • Previous experience or exposure to management accounts preparation.
  • Organised with an eye for detail.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously.
  • Aptitude for learning systems and processes quickly.
  • Experience with Netsuite or other similar financial system and Salesforce/Kimble would be beneficial but full training will be provided.
