AdvertSLR has a fantastic opportunity for a Climate Change specialist to join our industry-leading Corporate Sustainability team.
Our consultants work within client project teams, with responsibilities including project delivery, business development, and client management. We have consultants working at all levels with our clients and focus on developing our people to take on more senior roles as they grow their skills, knowledge, and experience.
You will have a key role developing and delivering our work across our service areas, including: sustainability strategy and materiality, reporting and disclosure (to ESG indices, ratings and frameworks) and social and community impact. Client focus, curiosity, strong analytical and communication skills, and good time management are essential for all our roles.
The role will be based in our London office with the opportunity for hybrid working.

The roleIn the climate pillar of our Corporate Sustainability team, you will play a key leadership role in delivering impactful climate-related services, managing projects, guiding teams, and driving business growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Technical expertise: Lead the delivery of projects in one or more of the following areas.
Core:- Climate Risk and Resilience (including climate-related disclosures, climate scenario analysis and financial impact analysis)
Additional:- Climate Transition planning
- Net Zero Strategy (SBTi aligned target setting, decarbonisation plans and pathway modelling, supplier engagement strategies)
- Greenhouse Gas Accounting (Corporate footprints - Scope 1, 2 and 3, data management, software support and implementation, assurance)
2. People leadership:- Lead and develop a team of 4–6 direct reports
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing across the wider team
3. Project management:- Managing and delivering multiple complex and large projects, ensuring milestones are met within agreed timelines
- Oversight and rigorous review of projects, including managing and supporting team performance
4. Developing key client relationships and generating new clients:- Manage the development of client proposals, identifying and winning new opportunities and prospects
- Develop key client relationships as well as have overall responsibility for client projects you are managing
- Understanding and interpreting client needs, clearly communicating client goals to internal and external stakeholders and growing client relationships
- Contributing to thought leadership through research, drafting articles and blogs
5. Strategic direction:- Shape and guide the strategic direction of our climate services
- Focus on expanding our service offering and client base
- Play a key role in evolving our tools, methodologies, and market positioning
- Keeping abreast of the climate strategy landscape, regulatory requirements and best practices

About youWe are looking for someone with a proven track record of working with corporate sector clients on climate-related issues. We are open to in-house, consulting or NGO experience.
- Specific expertise in Climate Risk (including climate-related disclosures, climate scenario analysis and financial impact analysis)
- Experience managing teams and/or delivering projects relating to climate strategy
- Strong analytical capability with experience working and manipulating environmental and / or financial impact data
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients
- A strong entrepreneurial drive to identify and develop growth opportunities for SLR in a context of some well-established operational support
- A strong track record of winning new business, or relevant transferable skills e.g. prospecting, pitching, scoping, negotiating, contracting
- Excellent team management skills, nurturing and developing people in a project-based, hybrid organisation
