Design and Manufacturing Manager

Salary: GBP55k neg dep exp + generous benefits

Location: Near Coleshill, Warwickshire

Our client, established for almost 40 years and recognized as a market leader in the design, development, manufacture, and distribution of solutions worldwide, is experiencing continued success and strategic growth. They are seeking an experienced Design and Manufacturing Manager to join their dynamic team. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes.

Reporting to the Design and Technical Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of manufacturing processes, from design and implementation to optimization and improvement, ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and to high quality standards in a safe environment. The role also includes the daily first-line management of the team. Key responsibilities include:

1. Process Design and Optimization: Developing and implementing efficient manufacturing processes, designing and testing new equipment, processes, and systems, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions, and managing the implementation of new equipment and automation solutions.
2. Project Management: Managing manufacturing engineering projects, including capital and process development projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget, and effectively managing resources.
3. Team Leadership and Management: Leading and mentoring manufacturing engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
4. Quality Assurance: Ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality standards, implementing QC measures, and driving continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality and process reliability.
5. Budget Management: Managing departmental budgets, including capital expenditures and operating costs.
6. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring all operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards, and promoting a safety culture.
7. Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing: Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, implementing lean manufacturing methodologies, and staying updated on the latest best practices.

The ideal candidate will have at least an HND or higher qualification in mechanical engineering, design, or manufacturing, with a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role. Proficiency in 3D CAD (Creo Parametric) and SAP is required, along with knowledge of metal manufacturing processes involving ferrous and non-ferrous metals. A full UK driving license is necessary for site and supplier visits within the UK and abroad.
