Monday to Friday (06:30am - 14:24pm)

At Totally Local Company, an opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Operative 2 who possesses a professional demeanour, sound judgement, and integrity to join our Street Care team.

What you'll be doing in this role

Cleansing

• Undertake cleansing duties allocated by the supervisor in accordance with agreed procedures to defined standards, including sweeping, cleaning, litter picking, emptying litter bins, removing weeds, debris, refuse, and cleaning road signs and litter bins. Remove graffiti and offensive material when required.

Grounds

• Perform general maintenance in green areas such as highway verges, landscaped areas, council properties, recreation areas, cemeteries, schools, and sports turf. Tasks include hand weeding, weed spraying, mowing, pruning, hedge cutting, planting, seeding, turfing, and setting out bedding according to design specifications. Maintain recreational and sports facilities, including goal posts and markings.

General

• Carry out winter maintenance duties like gritting, snow/ice clearance, and siting grit bins. Assist in waste recycling, work as part of a team, and ensure safety protocols are followed. Use and maintain mechanical equipment, conduct daily checks, and report issues. Provide information for record-keeping, represent the company professionally, and undertake relevant training to develop skills.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

• Hold a C1 driving license and be able to operate vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes.
• Experience in achieving operational targets and maintaining high standards in horticultural and street cleansing work.
• Knowledge of street cleansing and horticultural standards, working methods, and equipment. Adhere to health and safety practices.
