Join a Leading Precision Engineering Company in Coventry. Ambitek is looking for an Estimator for our client, an engineering business delivering high-precision, large-scale machined components to critical industries including oil & gas, nuclear, defence, and aerospace. Operating from our advanced manufacturing facility in Coventry, we are known for quality, reliability, and engineering excellence. They are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to support our continued growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in precision engineering and desirable experience in the oil & gas sector.

Role Summary:

As an Estimator, you’ll play a key role in our commercial team—preparing detailed costings and competitive quotations for high-value machining projects.

This is a varied and hands-on role requiring strong engineering knowledge and commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Analyse engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to produce accurate cost estimates.
2. Calculate machining times, materials, labour, tooling, and subcontract costs.
3. Collaborate with production, engineering, and procurement teams to gather relevant costing data.
4. Prepare formal quotations for customers, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
5. Manage and track the quotation pipeline, ensuring follow-up and feedback.
6. Liaise with clients to clarify requirements and support commercial discussions.
7. Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.

Desirable Experience:

1. Experience estimating for projects in the oil & gas industry.
2. Understanding of complex machining processes for components used in high-pressure, harsh environments.
3. Familiarity with materials commonly used in the sector (e.g., Inconel, duplex stainless steels).

What We’re Looking For:

1. Proven experience as an Estimator in a precision engineering or CNC machining environment.
2. Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
3. Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
4. Commercial awareness and customer-focused mindset.
5. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
6. Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or similar) preferred.

Hours and Salary:

Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00. Salary upwards from £35,000, dependent on experience.
