We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Volunteer & Peer Development Coordinator in our Autism Hampshire subsidiary based in our Hampshire office in Whitley.

Autism Hampshire has received a 5-year grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to continue developing our Serendipity Community Groups service. The Serendipity groups provide a safe space for autistic adults to meet across Hampshire, and we are excited for this next phase of development.

We are seeking an experienced, empathetic and collaborative individual to become our new Volunteer & Peer Development Lead. This is a pivotal role for the next phase of our Serendipity development as we move to a volunteer and peer-led model. This role is part time covering 22.5 hours per week and are happy to discuss candidates availability at telephone interview and interview stage. Autism Hampshire has a hybrid working policy and this role has some home working and flexible hours available.

In this role you will provide volunteer support for the Serendipity Community Groups, ensuring all roles are delivered effectively and volunteers receive an outstanding experienceas well asdeveloping volunteering opportunities within Serendipity for members (autistic adults) and external applicants, proactively seeking volunteer opportunities. You will also support members to develop their skills and confidence to undertake volunteer roles within Serendipity.

Interviews will be held the week commencing 26th May and 2nd June.

Our ideal candidate looks like this!

  • Experience of recruiting, managing and working alongside volunteers from a diverse background
  • Experience of coaching and nurturing individuals, ideally of working with people from a diverse background including neurodivergent individuals
  • Knowledge of volunteer management best practices, safeguarding and inclusion
  • Knowledge of IT systems, databases and MS Office
  • Ability to collect and analyse data for reporting
  • Able to prioritise own workload and be self-motivated
  • Able to uphold confidentiality
  • Understanding and sympathetic to the challenges faced by autistic people and/or people with learning disabilities and other neurodivergent conditions
  • Reliable with a high degree of personal integrity, act with a positive attitude and compassion
  • Able to communicate at all levels
