Job Description
Our client, a supplier of speciality chemicals and support services to the global Energy sector, is seeking a Technical Manager - Completions and Drilling to join their team and support ongoing growth.
The role's primary purpose is to provide technical support to the Completions & Drilling department and manufacturing facilities. The Technical Manager will serve as the core expertise, research and develop new products, and engage with clients as needed.
Core Responsibilities and Key Tasks
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to develop new and existing products for Completions & Drilling.
- Produce and review output from the technical department, including reports.
- Support current products by ensuring registration compliance and maintaining complete data sets for the sales team.
- Stay informed about technical developments through contacts with raw material suppliers, sales teams, customers, conferences, and symposia.
- Prioritize and respond to demands from the Business Development teams and warehouse/yard, negotiating where necessary to optimize resource use.
- Respond to technical developments in equipment and techniques to provide cost-effective support.
- Support manufacturing by developing procedures aligned with customer needs and yard capabilities.
- Recommend technical developments for yard facilities when appropriate.
- Be aware of legislative limitations (such as REACH, CLP, COMAH, DSEAR) to select appropriate materials and processes.
- Train and develop technical staff on Completions & Drilling products as needed.
- Coordinate with the Lab Manager to ensure laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance.
- Manage and preserve the company's intellectual property, including archiving product designs, documenting know-how, preparing patent applications, and maintaining the IP portfolio.
Other Responsibilities
- Adhere to company policies regarding Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental management.
- Perform any other tasks as required by Senior Management, workload permitting.
Education
- Science Degree or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word).
Industry Experience
- Experience working in a laboratory managing projects.
- Experience in lubricants, breakers, or processes relevant to completions and drilling.
Reporting
This position reports to the Global Business Manager, Completions & Drilling.
