Responsibilities
- Adjust, settle, and manage claims arising on policies underwritten by W/R/B Underwriting (WRBU) for the Berkley Professional Liability (BPro) affiliate, and in case of conflict or as needed, for Berkley Alliance Managers (BAM) affiliate underwriting. Activities should adhere to authority limits and align with WRBU’s Claims Management Policies and Procedures, including the Claims Philosophy and Claims Reserving Protocol.
- Manage the company's claims exposure proactively and efficiently, considering legal and regulatory environments.
- Protect the company's financial interests by verifying the validity of claims payments and maintaining adequate reserving.
- Provide prompt and efficient service to customers, complying with the Treating Customers Fairly principles.
- Communicate claims developments, trends, and material losses to all stakeholders appropriately.
- Ensure effective interaction of Claims Management with relevant Syndicate and affiliate stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance of claims management activities with the claims philosophy, standards, and authority limits.
- Handle claims submissions promptly and efficiently within service levels, from notification to conclusion.
- Appoint and manage service providers, developing strategies for claim resolution.
- Liaise with brokers, co-insurers, and customers regarding claims issues.
- Ensure claims records on internal systems are accurate and current; manage workflow via ECF2 and other platforms.
- Collaborate with Senior Management from WRBU and BPro, and BPro underwriting teams, to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
- Assist with Claims Management duties such as open claims reviews, reserving, reinsurance analysis, and other projects as reasonably requested.
- Participate in professional, technical, and career development training.
- Perform other similar duties as reasonably requested within your expertise, subject to periodic review and updates after consultation.
- Liaise with related functions like Underwriting, Actuarial, Risk Management, Finance, and Compliance to enhance claims management.
- Attend WRB Underwriting internal meetings and committees as required.
