Location - IPT BBV (Birmingham) - 3 times per week on site.

Salary: Base salary: £54,500pa to c.£68,150pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer a flexible benefits fund of 20%, which is paid on top of the base salary and is fully pensionable, along with a range of competitive benefits—check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

The Senior Commercial Manager will deliver commercial activities within the Delivery teams, providing leadership to HS2 commercial staff managing major infrastructure contracts to realize the HS2 vision. The role involves collaboration with the supply chain and contractors, assuring and supporting their commercial activities, and providing an independent view to the Head of Commercial.

About the role:

The role includes accountability for:

  1. Delivering commercial and contract management to maintain effective control;
  2. Administering obligations under the NEC3 Contract, including variations, payments, and incentives;
  3. Managing cost verification and analyzing supply chain reports to improve performance;
  4. Contributing to contract performance reports and final cost estimates;
  5. Supporting contract and program reviews and dispute settlements;
  6. Providing commercial advice and supporting project savings initiatives;
  7. Fostering a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and industry best practices;
  8. Managing relationships with key contractors.

Leadership responsibilities include:

  1. Leading estimate reviews and governance approvals;
  2. Managing and developing commercial teams;
  3. Developing and maintaining commercial policies and processes;
  4. Promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).

About you:

Skills required:

  • Experience managing high-value, complex infrastructure contracts;
  • Ability to develop commercial strategies;
  • Expertise in managing relationships and negotiations;
  • Stakeholder management skills;
  • Proficiency in commercial policies and risk management.

Experience required:

  • Leading commercial teams in major infrastructure projects;
  • Working with publicly funded bodies or programs;
  • Developing and managing complex contracts;
  • Using commercial management systems.
