Position: Youth Worker – SEMH Students

Role Overview

Are you passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges? Do you have a desire to help students overcome barriers and unlock their potential? Join this dedicated team as a Youth Worker in a supportive SEMH school!

In this role, you will empower students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. You’ll help build their confidence, teach vital life skills, and support their challenges to help them thrive.

Responsibilities

1. Building Relationships: Develop strong, trusting relationships with students, providing consistent support and guidance.
2. Supporting Emotional Development: Help students navigate their emotions, boost self-esteem, and create a safe space for expression.
3. Guiding Personal Growth: Work on improving social skills, behaviour management, and conflict resolution.
4. Delivering Targeted Interventions: Provide tailored support, working with teachers to implement behaviour plans and interventions.
5. Promoting Wellbeing: Engage in activities to promote emotional and mental wellbeing, encouraging positive choices and resilience.
6. Collaborating with the Team: Work alongside teaching staff, pastoral teams, and outside agencies for holistic support.

Candidate Profile

We’re seeking a Youth Worker who is:

1. Empathetic and Understanding: Able to connect with young people and understand SEMH challenges.
2. Proactive and Patient: Calm, patient, and capable of de-escalating situations.
3. Experienced: Experience with SEMH students is desirable, but candidates with other youth work experience who are eager to learn are welcome.
4. Team Player: Comfortable working with teachers, support staff, and families.
