About The Role
The purpose of this role is to carry out electrical maintenance, repair, and installation works in accordance with the operational and maintenance plan and budget. The goal is to improve operational reliability and availability of plant and machinery while minimizing maintenance costs. All work must prioritize Health, Safety, Environmental, and Product Quality standards at all times.
Main duties
- Provide electrical repair and maintenance skills, including fault identification and analysis, to facilitate repairs, improvements, inspections, adjustments, and refurbishments to agreed standards.
- Install and commission power and control cabling for electrical drive and process equipment upgrades and new installations.
- Repair, maintain, calibrate, and test process instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, and transducers, e.g., load cells, level control devices, PID controllers, proximity sensors, temperature transmitters, etc.
- Work with, install, and maintain safety-critical control systems and associated interlocks, E-stop circuits, pull wire systems, etc. (electrical [Pilz] and mechanical [Castel/Fortress])
- Identify faults and concerns in electrical systems independently and present findings without explicit direction.
- Assess parts needed for jobs and communicate requirements to enable parts to be ordered.
- Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure system integrity, compatibility, and safety.
- Maintain control and variable speed drive systems, including inspection, setup, and repair.
- Install, maintain, and repair general facilities electrical equipment, including lighting, emergency lighting, PAT testing, and portable electrical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws, company safety policies, and relevant legislation.
- Understand programming and fault rectification on PLC systems associated with production control, e.g., Allen Bradley SLC/PLC5/Control Logix, Siemens S5/S7.
- Inspect and test LV switchgear, cable, and transformer systems.
- Keep work areas clean and dispose of waste materials properly.
- Complete work safely and promptly, reporting and recording details on maintenance systems.
- Maintain tools in good condition and report defects immediately.
- Participate in the electrical maintenance callout rota.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and management.
- Follow and promote health & safety policies and legislation, including the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
