A leading healthcare provider in Wales is seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Radiographer to join their patient-centered team at Royal Glamorgan Hospital. This fixed-term position involves working across various radiography aspects, including X-ray and CT studies, while adhering to departmental guidelines. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 Radiographer to join our patient-centered team of friendly Radiology staff at Royal Glamorgan Hospital. This is a fixed-term post, ending 6th June 2026, to cover a secondment.
The department has four general rooms, two CT scanners, two MRI scanners, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, and interventional departments. We have upgraded all our CR equipment within the hospital and at our satellite site with new Samsung DR units.
Royal Glamorgan Hospital features a major accident and emergency unit and serves as a regional diagnostic hub, playing a significant role in early diagnostics and ambulatory care. The successful applicant will be involved in delivering the single cancer pathway, where GP chest X-rays are hot reported, providing immediate results to patients in the department. This process significantly reduces referral-to-treatment times.
Newly qualified Band 5 Radiographers undergo a three-month preceptorship program to support their transition from student to Radiographer. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is actively encouraged, along with participation in our Core Audit Programme.
The successful applicant will work across all aspects of General Radiography, including X-ray, fluoroscopy, theatre, mobiles, dental imaging, and non-contrast CT studies. They will work independently without direct supervision but report to a senior or Superintendent Radiographer, adhering to departmental guidelines and procedures.
The post involves participation in the Radiology Directorate shift system, which includes a mix of 12-hour day and night shifts and 7.5-hour shifts. The base location is Royal Glamorgan Hospital, with rotations to the satellite site, Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, and potential attendance at other sites within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
Good communication skills are essential. Welsh language skills are desirable. This is a fixed-term/secondment position for 12 months. Applicants interested in applying for the secondment must seek permission from their current line manager prior to application.
