What we’re looking for

Lloyd's Register Technical Support Office supports Shipyards, Owners, Navies, Designers and Manufacturers, driving maritime safety of people, environment, and ships. We are currently looking for a qualified candidate to join our Southampton Office in the Machinery Specialised Projects Team. The role involves carrying out plan approval of maritime machinery components (such as marine engines, steer gears, windlasses, winches, etc.) and machinery dynamics (including torsional, axial, lateral vibrations, shaft alignment, and resilient mounted machinery) according to international standards, class rules, and procedures.

The Role
  • Carry out plan approval of machinery components and dynamics in accordance with Lloyd’s Register Rules & Regulations, statutory regulations, and international standards.
  • Monitor revisions to statutory, rule, and flag requirements and apply these revisions appropriately.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical advice to clients and internal teams.
  • Discuss and present deliverables to clients and suggest solutions where appropriate.
  • Manage projects, including monitoring progress, budget, and contracts.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced colleagues.
What you bring
  • Must hold or be able to achieve UK SC security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical/marine engineering or related field; Chartered or professional qualification preferred.
  • Experience in offshore or marine machinery and engineering system design or appraisal.
  • Knowledge in marine engineering, piping systems, machinery components, or machinery dynamics.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Strong client relationship skills and effective interpersonal communication.
