Job description

You will play a critical role in driving the financial reporting and controls of the Group. Working closely with all budget holders and the senior leadership team, the role will be responsible for all management accounting in the region and for the Group, providing high quality periodic analysis of the financials, business performance providing recommendations and challenge where necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the periodic management accounting of the UK and EMEA regions including all head office cost centres, working closely with the commercial teams, to ensure periodic management accounts are accurate and robust

- Manage and develop the management accounts function

- Provide expert financial and commercial advice to operational management, providing insights and analysis on performance as well as monitor risks, opportunities, initiatives, KPIs and trends across the business

- Responsible for all periodic management accounts and group reporting to Excom and the PLC Board, complete with variance analysis against budget and forecasts, and providing insight to the business to support decision making

- Lead and define the process on standardised reporting across the group and how this is shared and presented on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis

- Lead and develop the team, providing clear direction, objectives and priorities to enable high levels of engagement and performance

- Lead monthly review meetings with stakeholders and business partners to review periodic financial performance, providing insights and highlight any risks and opportunities to budget and forecast

- Responsible for all group reporting to the PLC Board

- Responsible for all Investor Relations reporting and updates

- Develop and maintain management accounting policies and procedures

- Responsible for budgeting and forecasting for the UK and EMEA regions and head office cost centres

- Support with the year-end audit

- Ad hoc support to the Finance Team/wider business as required

Skills & Knowledge:

- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA.) or first-class commercial experience in a planning role in a fast-paced retail environment

- Proven ability of strategic thinking and awareness and can challenge status quo and be able to drive alignment between conflicting interests within a business

- Proven Ability to structure technical/complex information to ensure stakeholders understand the key message/s

- Holds a commercial focus and understands key business objectives that affect profitability and growth to improve results, ensures that activities in own area support and are in line with the organisation's strategy.

- Has a Stakeholder Focus and identifies the needs to both those internal and external, with maintenance of composure where conflict occurs

- Innovative and solution oriented, with proactive attitude and track record of delivering projects.

- Proven ability to understand and analyse large amounts of data ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders including directors, department heads and external advisors

- Shows adaptability and a flexible approach to work and adapt quickly and effectively to unexpected changes whilst ensuring objectives are met, particularly to cater for peaks in business demands and ad-hoc projects.

- Multi-site experience desirable

- Displays a proactive and organised approach to work
