Job description

Our client is a market leader in their industry, designing and manufacturing high-quality plastic injection mould tools for the POS and luxury brands industry. They are currently seeking a Mould Toolmaker-CAD/CAM Engineer to join the production team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate CNC Milling machinery, programming with Autodesk PowerMill, and use Rhino 3D CAD software or SolidWorks/Fusion 360 to produce accurate and efficient NC toolpaths.
2. Manufacture moulds using manual Milling, Turning, and Grinding machines, along with traditional hand fitting and bench skills.
3. Utilize machinery for Turning, Drilling, and Grinding, including manual milling, grinding, and ZNC Spark erosion machinery.
4. Assemble, fit, polish, lift, and build moulds.
5. Set up and operate CNC machines, producing PowerMill programs for mould cavities, inserts, electrodes, and bolster plates using PC CAD/CAM equipment.
6. Perform quality checks on machined parts to ensure conformity to specifications and mould standards, using CMM machines with Renishaw probes.
7. Use 3D CAD software to interpret mould drawings and produce 3D models for machining mould plates and electrodes.

Minimum Requirements:

• City & Guilds or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
• City & Guilds CNC Programming (Parts 1 & 2)
• At least 3 years of experience in tool making or tool design
• Proficiency in 2D/3D computer software
• Minimum 2 years of NC programming experience

Additional Duties:

• Use manual milling and grinding machines, as well as ZNC Spark erosion machinery.
• Assist in mould assembly, fitting, polishing, lifting, and tool building.
• Interrogate mould drawings using 3D CAD software for manufacturing mould tooling.
• Produce 3D models for machining mould plates and electrodes.
