Job Opening: Duty Maintenance Engineer at The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh

We are recruiting a Duty Maintenance Engineer to join our team at The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh, one of Scotland's leading 5-star hotels. Our hotel features extensive banqueting and meeting facilities, an award-winning spa, and a renowned restaurant and bar.

Role Overview

The Duty Engineer will be responsible for first fix maintenance, scheduled preventative maintenance, and health & safety duties across the hotel and spa. The role involves participating in the shift rota to provide 24/7 coverage and supporting all general facilities management tasks as directed by management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Respond to maintenance requests, diagnosing and repairing faults related to HVAC, lighting, plumbing, pool plant, and thermal suite.
2. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and safety activities.
3. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including emergency lighting tests, water system checks, fire alarm testing, and generator operation.
4. Conduct health & safety testing, including Legionella control.
5. Participate in hotel emergency evacuation procedures.

Candidate Requirements

We seek energetic, self-motivated individuals with at least 2 years of experience in a similar environment, preferably in hotels. The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong communication skills
• Experience in maintenance roles, including electrical, HVAC, and fire systems
• Knowledge of health & safety procedures, including COSHH and risk assessments
• Understanding of energy management and system fault finding
• Relevant qualifications, such as 17th edition wiring regulations (preferred)
• BMS experience and ability to interpret system drawings and manuals
