Senior Regulatory Technologist - Cosmetics & Beauty

Job Title: Senior Regulatory Technologist – Cosmetics & Beauty

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

CPL is collaborating with a growing beauty and skincare company with a large customer base, including high street retailers worldwide, online fashion retailers, and licensed products. The focus is on colour cosmetics, skincare, hair care, body care, and fragrances.

The company seeks a Senior Regulatory Technologist to join its dynamic team in Northwest England. The role involves designing and manufacturing private label and branded cosmetic products from concept to delivery.

The regulatory team emphasizes compliance and customer needs to ensure products meet high standards of quality and commerciality. The role requires close collaboration with Brand, NPD, Manufacturing, Laboratory, and Commercial teams to provide expert technical support for new formulations and portfolio maintenance.

Main responsibilities include:

  1. Regulatory Compliance:
  • Assess and ensure compliance of cosmetic products with national and international regulations.
  • Meet customer requirements, including standards set by The Vegan Society, Cruelty Free International (CFI), and the Round Table for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory documents to authorities.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes impacting the cosmetics industry.
  • Documentation and Submissions:
    • Develop and maintain Cosmetic Product Information Files (PIFs), claims substantiation, and Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs).
    • Manage comprehensive technical files for regulatory submissions.
    • Ensure accuracy and currency of scientific and legal documentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work with product development, quality control, and research teams to gather data.
    • Advise on regulatory requirements for new and modified products.
    • Respond to regulatory agencies' requests for additional information.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Conduct impact assessments for product changes.
    • Manage global regulatory horizon scanning to ensure future readiness.
    • Develop strategies to mitigate regulatory risks and facilitate smooth product launches.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Participate in audits to ensure compliance with standards.
    • Maintain detailed records of regulatory activities and communications.

    Essential qualifications and experience:

    • Minimum of 4 years in cosmetic regulatory affairs, ideally with global experience.
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
    • Experience with labelling and artwork.
    • Experience managing NPD activities in global markets.
    • Strong confidence in the cosmetics market.
