Job Title: Senior Regulatory Technologist – Cosmetics & Beauty

Job Type: Full time - Permanent position

Cpl is collaborating with a growing beauty and skincare company with a large customer base, ranging from high street retailers from all around the world, online fashion retailers, and licensed products. The company focuses on colour cosmetics, skincare, hair care, body care, and fragrances.

The business is seeking a Senior Regulatory Technologist to join a rapidly growing, high-energy team in the Northwest of England. The role involves designing and manufacturing private label and branded cosmetic regulated products from concept to delivery.

The regulatory team emphasizes regulatory compliance and customer needs to ensure products meet high standards of quality and commerciality. The role will collaborate closely with the Brand, NPD, Manufacturing, Laboratory, and Commercial teams to provide expert technical knowledge supporting new formulations and maintaining the full portfolio.

Main areas of responsibility:

  1. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Assess and ensure compliance of cosmetic products with national and international regulations.
    • Ensure all customer requirements are met, including standards set by The Vegan Society, Cruelty Free International (CFI), and Round Table for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
    • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory documents to authorities.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes impacting the cosmetics industry.
  2. Documentation and Submissions:
    • Develop and maintain Cosmetic Product Information Files (PIFs), claims substantiation, and Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs).
    • Ensure all scientific and legal documentation is accurate and current.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with product development, quality control, and research teams to gather necessary data.
    • Advise on regulatory requirements for new and modified products.
    • Respond to regulatory agencies' requests for additional information.
  4. Strategic Planning:
    • Conduct regulatory impact assessments for product changes.
    • Manage a global regulatory horizon scanning process to keep regulatory processes future-proof.
    • Develop strategies to mitigate regulatory risks and facilitate smooth product launches.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    • Participate in quality assurance audits to ensure compliance.
    • Maintain detailed records of all regulatory activities and communications.

Essential requirements/qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in cosmetic regulatory affairs, ideally with a global scope.
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Experience with labelling and artwork.
  • Experience managing NPD activities in global markets.
  • Confidence in the cosmetics market.
  • Previous experience in cosmetics and beauty is essential.
  • Must be able to work on-site 5 days a week.
