About the role

As a Supermarket Assistant Branch Cook, you'll work in our back-of-house in one of our shops' Partner Dining Rooms, providing hot and cold food for Partners during their break times. When not in the kitchen, you'll support the wider shop floor team as a Supermarket Assistant, delivering excellent service and food passion that sets us apart.

Key Responsibilities

In the role of Branch Cook, you'll be responsible for:

1. Ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen with support from management.
2. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe kitchen environment.
3. Controlling portions, preparing, storing food properly, and preventing wastage to protect profits.
4. Adhering to high food hygiene standards.

When working on the shop floor, your tasks include:

1. Stock replenishment to keep shelves full and organized.
2. Fulfilling online customer orders for delivery.
3. Minimizing wastage through product due diligence and markdowns.
4. Supporting the wider team with checkout, Click & Collect, and on-demand orders.
5. Maintaining a safe and tidy environment with general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential skills/experience

• Experience as a cook in catering or hospitality.
• Passion for food and serving nutritious menus.
• Customer-focused with the ability to engage partners.
• Commercial awareness, driving sales while controlling costs and wastage.
• Flexibility to work between kitchen and shop floor.

Desirable skills/experience

• City & Guilds 706 1 and 2 or NVQ equivalent.
• Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
